Automatic Enrollment
You’ll be automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Plan after 35 days from your start date at a 6% contribution rate of your pre-tax eligible compensation. You can enroll or change your contribution rate at virtually any time online, or by calling Fidelity at 800-890-4015.
Your contributions will be invested in the Target Date Fund based on your birth year and typically aligns with when you may retire. The funds automatically adjust over time and start with more growth-focused investments then gradually shift to more conservative investments as the fund nears its target date. Your Contributions
Pre-Tax
Pre-tax contributions are deducted from your pay before income taxes are taken out, but not before FICA taxes (Social Security and Medicare). You’ll pay taxes on these contributions and on any investment earnings when you make a withdrawal in retirement.
You can contribute up to 80% of your eligible compensation as pre-tax and/or Roth contributions. The IRS pre-tax and/or Roth contribution limit for 2026 is $24,500.
Roth Basic
Roth contributions are deducted from your pay after income taxes are taken out. Contributions and any investment earnings are federally tax-free, if they are part of a qualified distribution (distribution taken at least 5 years from the first of the year in which the first Roth contribution was made and one of the following conditions has been met: age 59 1/2, disability, or death). These contributions are eligible for the NVIDIA match.
You can contribute up to 80% of your eligible compensation as pre-tax and/or Roth contributions. The IRS pre-tax and/or Roth contribution limit for 2026 is $24,500.
Traditional After-Tax
If you hit the IRS 401(k) contribution limit ($24,500 in 2026), you can save more for retirement through after-tax contributions. These contributions come out of your pay after taxes, and you will not have to pay taxes when you withdraw contributions later. However, you will pay taxes on any investment earnings. Although these contributions are not eligible for the NVIDIA match, they can be a valuable option for additional tax-advantaged savings if your financial situation allows.
You can convert your after-tax contributions to Roth savings through the 401(k) Plan through a Roth in-plan conversion.
Roth In-Plan Conversion
Convert pre-tax and/or after-tax contributions to Roth to help you manage taxes now and in the future. You’ll pay federal income tax in the year of conversion on any converted pre-tax amounts, but that’s it. You do not pay taxes on the converted investment earnings after they are converted to Roth.
Catch-Up Contributions
If you are age 50 or older, you can make catch-up contributions to your 401(k) Plan after reaching the annual limit with your pre-tax/Roth contributions. This is a great way to help boost your retirement savings, especially if you have not been able to contribute consistently. A separate election is required to continue contributing.
- Age 50 to 59 and 64+: Contribute an additional $8,000 in 2026.
- Age 60 to 63: Contribute an additional $11,250 in 2026.
SECURE 2.0 Act Impact
Effective January 1, 2026, SECURE 2.0 may change how you contribute catch-up contributions. If you earn over $150,000 in FICA wages from NVIDIA in the previous year and your pre-tax contributions reach the IRS limit ($24,500 in 2026), any catch-up contributions must be made on a Roth (after-tax) basis.
If you fall into this group, catch-up contributions can only be made as Roth (after-tax). This is the only available option and is already in effect. If you do not wish to make Roth catch-up contributions, you will need to adjust your contribution elections on 401k.com after meeting the pre-tax/Roth contribution limit for the year.

Annual Increase Program
In addition to being automatically enrolled in the 401(k) Plan, you will also be automatically enrolled in the Annual Increase Program. Every year, your regular pre-tax 401(k) contribution rate will increase by 1% (up to a maximum of 10%).
You can opt out of the Annual Increase Program on 401k.com or by calling Fidelity at 800-890-4015.
Employer Matching Contributions
NVIDIA will match 100% of the first $6,000 in eligible pre-tax and/or Roth contributions you make to the 401(k) Plan and will match 50% of the remaining contributions up to $11,500. Then NVIDIA will match $0.50 for each dollar for the next $11,000.
That means, if you contribute:
- $6,000 – you will receive the NVIDIA match of $6,000
- $13,000 – you will receive the NVIDIA match of $9,500
- $17,000 or more – you will receive the NVIDIA match of $11,500
Note, the match you receive from NVIDIA is not prorated (if hired in the middle of the year, you'll receive a full NVIDIA match if you contribute the appropriate dollar amount).
Vesting
For most employees, you are always 100% vested in your own contributions, NVIDIA matching contributions, and any earnings on them.
Depending on your class, you may receive a different vesting schedule. Refer to the Summary Plan Description for more details.
Rollovers
You are permitted to roll over eligible pre-tax contributions from another 401(k) plan, 403(b) plan, or a governmental 457(b) retirement plan account or eligible pre-tax contributions from other rollover individual retirement accounts (IRAs). You may also roll over eligible Roth 401(k) contributions to the 401(k) Plan.
Be sure to consider all your available options and the applicable fees and features of each before moving your retirement assets.
Withdrawals
Withdrawals from the 401(k) Plan are generally permitted after you turn age 59½, terminate your employment, retire, become permanently disabled, or have severe financial hardship as defined by the 401(k) Plan. Refer to the Summary Plan Description or call Fidelity at 800-890-4015 for more details.
